At least for beers, or (for some, sometimes)

Note:
* It may have been illegal but nevertheless it was somewhat expected of adventurous mid-teens to spend some time in pubs. I can’t recall our group ever causing trouble in “our” Pub, or even being trouble for the publican. We were probably safer there, than the alternative (parent free) venues available.
The Top Pub may not have changed much but the culture has had some seismic shifts – if we were caught we were given a stern warning and sent on our way.
